Youth News

NOW God Wednesdays –   The youth meet each Wednesday and focus on  four different themes that rotate throughout the month.  Themes include Serve, Worship, Learn and Play.

NOW God does not meet during Christmas Holidays, Lent, and the summer.

Play (games, fun and adventure either at the church or off-site such as indoor rock climbing)

Serve (service projects at the church or in the community such as college student care packages and church property maintenance)

Worship – (using modern worship and a forum for discussion)

Learn (guest speakers talking of issues affecting our youth)

Run For It 5K – To Write Love On Her Arms is a non-profit movement dedication to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide.   Mandarin Lutheran youth participate in a 5K run held in Melbourne each year with other other ELCA congregations.  This year’s event will be held on on April 11.  If you’d like to register for the run or make a donation, please click here.

Our team name is  “Race For Grace” and the password is “synod.”

2021 Youth Gathering – Every three years the ELCA senior high youth come together in the summer for an epic, life-changing Youth Gathering.  This event is about faith formation, community service and awareness and building relationships with 30,000 young Lutherans from the US around the world.  In a five day period, the youth and adult leaders explore and serve the community, grow in God’s word with the youth of the Florida-Bahamas synod, play games, meet with organizations doing God’s work in the world, experience the culture of the host city, and gather with all participants for worship, music, speakers, and much more.  The 2021 Gathering “Boundless; God Beyond Measure” will take place in Minneapolis in June of 2021.  For more information visit the website.

Christian Education – During high school Sunday School classes, we explore what Scripture has to say in today’s world coupled with discussion of current events and culture.  Classes focus on subjects youth are often coping with but also issues that may also enhance their faith.”
